Cat aggression and CBD Oil

My cat Jaco (11years) has Small Cell Lymphoma, so he is on Chlorambucil (chemo) every 2 weeks and Prednisolone (2.5mg) every other day. He's been on it since we discovered the SCL back in Feb of 2021, so 7 months now. At first it was 5mg every day, then 2.5mg every day, now its 2.5 every other day.

The problem is that in the last few months, due to side affects of aggression of the Pred (Steriod), Jaco has been attacking the other cat we have. It took a turn for the worse as this morning he clawed at me and hissed after I was done loving on him. He hissed at my wife a bit ago too. We just had a newborn recently, and while he ignores the boy or sometimes sniffs him, we are very concerned about long term affects of the pred. Reducing the dosage further isn't really an option or the SCL will come back. Pre-cancer, Jaco was very affectionate and loving.

We tried the lavender cat collars (worthless) and we now have a Feliway multi-cat plugin but that will take a few days to see if it is effective. But I am wondering about the effectiveness of CBD oil in calming Jaco down.

I am looked for reviews online, but there isn't a lot relating to CBD oil and cat aggression. Do any of you have experience with this? What brands, dosages would you recommend?

According to the vet "At this point there is no data to suggest CBD reduces anxiety in cats, and we don't know how safe it is. For example, CBD commonly causes liver value elevations in dogs. So we do not recommend the use of CBD products". I'm obviously not going to be a first adopter on this, want to hear peoples first hand experiences first.

Cat With Severe Anxiety: CBD Has Changed Our Lives

My 16 y/o cat, O, has always been skittish, but after a few traumatic events, he became severely anxious. Seemingly out of nowhere, he started pooping all over the house (always on carpeted surfaces of course), meowing incessantly, jumping on me whilst I was sleeping (he had always been very quiet during sleepytime) and so on.

I took him to the vet who ran all the tests he could run, but O had a clean bill of health and the vet said that it was likely stress.

I didn't know what to do and his suffering was breaking my heart. Long story short, I sort of stumbled upon CBD, began giving it to him 9 days ago and, since day one, he has not pooped outside of his box and all of the other behaviors have pretty much vanished.

I did not enjoy picking up poop from my carpet at least twice a day; in fact, I would violently retch every time, but what makes me full of joy is that my little O is feeling so much better now. I hope that this info helps some of you and your furry friends.

Edit to add specifics: I'm using Try The CBD (actual brand name) which I picked up at a local smoke shop and they do have a website though I paid $15US less at the shop. My cat is about 10-11 lbs and I give him about 10 drops twice a day which seems to be perfect for him, but if you decide to try it, you may want to start with a lower dosage. He likes to lick his nearly empty wet food cans, so I put a few drops in there and he licks the cans clean and mix the rest in with his wet food. He absolutely loves the stuff though I have no clue as to whether or not it even has a flavor and, if so, no idea what it is as I don't detect a scent.

Edit2: My apologies for the late responses. I'm only on Reddit at work and I work nights.

Does anyone give their cats CBD oil?

We brought my 18 year old kitty to the vet today as he’s lost a considerable amount of weight and we also believe he’s gone blind rather suddenly. A couple tests showed that he’s not in kidney failure and we’re still waiting to hear about cancer. I was NOT impressed with the vet and will be seeking an opinion. She was quick to say that he’s probably not in pain, but probably also has arthritis and something else is going on that’s affecting his appetite. It’s the weekend now and I will be doing some research about other vets, but in the meantime can anybody provide any experiences they’ve had giving their cat CBD? I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have a ton of time left, but I’d like to ease any potential pain/discomfort/anxiety over his sudden loss of vision. Websites that sell CBD say there are no adverse effects, but other more independent sites are saying it has some risks. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated while I research further. Here’s my sweet Dorito Dorito
