cbd oil for rotor cuff shoulder pain

Get relief from Rotator Cuff Tears by using CBD

Rotator cuff tears, also known as Simple Tendonitis. It is a disorder which can weaken the shoulder of a person. A rotator cuff is primarily a group of muscles and tendons which surround the joints of the shoulder. When a rotator cuff injury occurs, it causes little pain in the shoulder, which slowly worsens when a person tries to sleep on the affected side. A rotator cuff tear causes pain and disability among adults and it can affect a person of any age.

The rotator cuff is responsible for many functions like lifting, movements, and others. When a person gets affected by this disability, daily activities are restricted like combing your hair or putting on clothes. These activities become more painful and you may find difficulty in doing such things. The rotator cuff tendons are responsible for covering the head of the humerus that is upper arm bone that helps you to raise and rotate the arms. This area can become more inflamed and painful when rotator cuff tendons are injured. It can be a frustrating experience when a person can’t work properly.

In this article, you will read about CBD and how it can help in reducing the painful symptoms of Rotator cuff tears. Here are some of the causes and symptoms of this disorder.

Rotator Cuff Tears: Causes and Symptoms

It is commonly caused by aging and other activities. People who are above 40 are at greater risk of developing RCT. It also occurs in people who are likely to do repetitive lifting or athletes, especially tennis players and baseball players. People who do more overhead work are more likely to get affected by the tears.

Causes of Rotator Cuff Tears

There are two main causes of RCT are, Injury and Degeneration. Others are as follows:

  • Age- The most common factor is the age of a person. As the Person gets older,
they become more prone to tears. The risk of getting injury increases after the age of 40.
  • Construction jobs- People who do more arm motions while working are likely to get affected by this. Works such as carpentry or painting require a lot of arm work and overhead, which damages the rotator cuff.
  • Genetics- In certain families, medical history can be a major cause of RCT.
Repetitive stress- Working or moving of the same shoulder again and again can stress the cuff muscles which can cause injury and tears in that shoulder.
  • Lack of blood supply- Blood supply is also a cause for RCT, the blood supply in the cuff tendons decrease which restricts the body’s natural ability to repair the damage in tendons.
Symptoms:
  1. Pain when lifting the arm or doing some specific movements
  2. Weakness
  3. Sputtering sensation while moving the shoulder
  4. Trouble raising or lowering the arms
  5. inability to lift things or doing normal work.

Use of CBD For Reducing Rotator Cuff Tears

Cannabidiol or CBD is a naturally occurring compound which is found in the resinous flower of a hemp plant. CBD is now emerging as a promising compound for treating many illnesses that most experts have previously considered to be untreatable. Researchers have found that many people have recovered from rotator cuff disease by the help of physical therapy and exercises. These exercises improve the flexibility and strength of the cuff muscles. The application of a CBD pain management balm or CBD oil can be helpful in decreasing the inflammation in the tendons of the shoulder. CBD acts the same as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and it comes with no harmful side effects.

Acute tear and degenerative tears which are two main tears caused by Rotator cuff disease can be treated by the use of CBD.CBD oil can be used for treating chronic pain caused by tears and can act as an alternative too.

What is a rotator cuff tear?

A rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and tendons that help stabilize the shoulder. They also aid in movement. Every time you move your shoulder, you are using your rotator cuff to stabilize and help move the joint.

The rotator cuff is a commonly injured area. The most common injuries are strains, tendinitis, and bursitis.

What causes a rotator cuff injury?

Rotator cuff injuries can range from mild to severe. They tend to fall into one of three categories.

Tendinitis is an injury caused by overuse of the rotator cuff. This causes it to become inflamed. Tennis players, who use an overhead serve and painters who have to reach upward to do their jobs commonly experience this injury.

Bursitis is another common rotator cuff injury. It’s caused by inflammation of the bursa. These are fluid-filled sacs that sit between the rotator cuff tendons and the underlying bone.

Rotator cuff strains or tears are caused by overuse or acute injury. The tendons that connect muscles to bones can overstretch (strain) or tear, partially or completely. The rotator cuff can also strain or tear after a fall, a car accident, or another sudden injury. These injuries typically cause intense and immediate pain.

What are the symptoms of rotator cuff injury?

Not all rotator cuff injuries cause pain. Some are the result of degenerative conditions, meaning the rotator cuff could be damaged for months or years before symptoms start to appear.

Common rotator cuff injury symptoms include:

  • avoiding certain activities because they cause pain
  • difficulty achieving full range of shoulder motion
  • difficulty sleeping on the affected shoulder
  • pain or tenderness when reaching overhead
  • pain in the shoulder, especially at night
  • progressive weakness of the shoulder
  • trouble reaching behind the back

If you’ve been experiencing any of these symptoms for longer than a week or lose function in your arm, see your doctor.

Who is at risk for rotator cuff injuries?

Rotator cuff injuries can be acute or degenerative.

Acute injuries usually occur from one particular incident. These can be caused by lifting objects that are too heavy, falling, or having the shoulder forced into an awkward position. Young people are more likely to experience this type of rotator cuff injury.

Degenerative injuries are due to long-term overuse. People most at risk for these injuries include:

  • athletes, particularly tennis players, baseball players, rowers, and wrestlers
  • people with jobs that require repetitive liftings, such as painters and carpenters
  • people above 40 years of age

How is a rotator cuff injury diagnosed?

Doctors use medical history, a physical exam, and imaging scans to diagnose rotator cuff injuries. They may ask about physical activities at the workplace. These questions determine whether a patient has an increased risk for a degenerative condition.

Your doctor will also test the arm’s range of motion and strength. They will also rule out similar conditions, such as a pinched nerve or arthritis.

Imaging scans, such as an X-ray, can identify any bone spurs. These small bone growths can rub against the rotator cuff tendon and cause pain and inflammation.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or ultrasound scans can also be used. These tools examine soft tissues, including tendons and muscles. They can help identify tears, as well as show how large and severe the tears have become.

How is a rotator cuff injury treated?

Treatments range from resting the affected arm to surgery. Tendinitis can progress to a rotator cuff tear, and that injury can get worse with time. Seeking treatment as quickly as possible help keep the injury from progressing.

Nonsurgical treatments improve symptoms in about 50 percent of people with a rotator cuff injury. These kinds of treatments include:

  • applying hot or cold packs to the affected shoulder to reduce swelling
  • exercises to restore strength and range of motion
  • injecting the affected area with cortisone, a steroid that helps to reduce inflammation
  • resting the affected arm and wearing a sling to isolate arm motions
  • over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen and naproxen

Research indicates that the timing of surgery doesn’t affect outcomes. This means if you have a rotator cuff injury, your doctor is likely to first try nonsurgical methods.

What is the outlook for a rotator cuff injury?

The prognosis for a rotator cuff injury depends upon the injury type. Half of those with a rotator cuff injury recover using exercise and at-home care. These interventions reduce pain and encourage a range of motion.

In the case of a more severe rotator cuff tear, shoulder strength may not improve unless the injury is surgically corrected.

How can a rotator cuff injury be prevented?

Athletes and people with occupations that require using the shoulder should take frequent rest breaks. This can reduce the load on the shoulder. Exercises to strengthen the shoulder and encourage a range of motion also can help. Ask your physical therapist for stretches and strengthening exercises to improve the function of your rotator cuff.

In the case of shoulder pain, icing the affected area can help reduce swelling. Apply ice in a cloth-covered pack for no more than 10 minutes at a time. These activities can also help prevent re-injury.

CBD oil testimonials

I have struggled with chronic daily pain for 10 years after a car accident, which ended my bodywork career. I’m a holistic practitioner and I own two massage/acupuncture clinics and endless amounts of treatment only offers temporary relief. I have known for years that the underlying issue is inflammation at this point. On the first day of taking the CBD oil I slept better and I felt calmer, by day 4 I noticed that I wasn’t ‘noticing’ my chronic neck pain. I didn’t expect the effects to be immediate and I’m looking forward to what the future holds with this oil! I now sleep better than ever and my neck pain is at a manageable level and rarely disrupts my daily life.

Pain:

CBD Oil for the win. I had a torn rotator cuff and frozen should for 9 agonizing months, pain is no fun, it takes everything you got out of you. It happened on my left shoulder and even simple tasks I struggled with pain just to do them. Just bumping my arm would put me in pain. I couldn’t lift my arm, put on my seatbelt, raise my arm to wash or do my hair, shave, sleep…omg sleep was a struggle. Waking up in pain when you are sleeping is a nightmare. I tried chiro, massage, acupuncture, used essential oils (a lot of them) and nutrition, tried many pain relief creams, and it did help a bit, but I had to steady stay on top of it. The pain always came back and I still couldn’t lift my arm. I came across this product and read up all I could on it as it’s a product for pain and inflammation and so much more. I ordered it with the full intention of giving it a good go of it. Well…4 days later, I was out of pain. I thought for sure it was going to come back, I was just waiting for it, but it hasn’t. Even today I tripped up the stairs and landed on my arm (I tripped on this little kitten that was in my way, it follows me everywhere) And there was NO PAIN. I have only been taking CBD Oil for 2 weeks as of today, and so many other unexpected things happened along the way as well. From the very first day I started the oil, I felt very calm and happy (I suffer anxiety) my mood completely changed for the better. I slept throughout the night and I still have a great sleep. I feel so much better, I’m vibrating higher! My prayers have been answered! I’m never going to stop taking these products, I feel so good!

Acid Reflux

For years I was on medication for acid reflux and I went off it due to side effects that I didn’t want, so I just lived with the acid reflux until CBD oil came along. I only took it for the general health benefits and was very pleasantly surprised to find that my acid reflux totally went away.

Child with anxiety and agoraphobia:

I am so impressed with CBD oil….my 16 yr old daughter has been on at least 4 different anxiety meds over
probably the last 5 yrs with very little benefit. This child has been fighting severe anxiety and agoraphobia since at least the age of 4. We have shed many tears over the yrs watching her struggle to just be a normal kid. She started taking the CBD drops and it’s only been a week but for the first time she said tonight “I actually feel like a normal kid” to hear her say that is the best thing I have ever heard her say. My cup runneth over! This stuff is AMAZING! AMEN.

Pain/TMJ issue

Hey! It’s about time I share my story with all of you so here goes!! I’m usually a pretty happy and down to earth wife, mother, and friend. But, I also suffer from from depression. Some days I just want to lock myself in my bathroom and never come out, other days I’m present but still feel very empty and closed up, and other days I’m fine! I’m not one to take medicine and absolutely hate going to the doctor. After my youngest was born I was on depression medicine and hated it so I quit cold turkey and I have struggled with it since. I’ve been taking CBD oil for over a month now and I can honestly say I feel better. By that I mean I wake up feeling rested, I tend to just let things roll off my shoulders now, and I can finally say that I’m happy and not on the verge of just locking myself away from everyone. Well, here is the thing… a day after Christmas I took myself to the hospital… My ear was killing me. It felt like someone had hit me in the head with a baseball bat. They told me I had an ear infection… I went home took my antibiotics and nothing. So, I put some oil in my ear and nothing!! I knew something wasn’t right. I want back to the doctor and found out I have TMJ!! So although the oil was making me feel great I was still in pain so I obviously knew I wasn’t taking enough. I was still only taking 5 drops twice a day. I now take 7-10 drops twice a day and my pain is no where like it was. My mouth still pops and feels weird at times but I’m not having to put an ice pack on my face non-stop and I can eat and talk without it hurting.

Insomnia:
Ok, I see amazing testimonials, so its time I made one of my own…
For many years, I had insomnia. 4-5 times a week I would be up at anywhere from 1:30 am to 3:30 am and could NOT go back to sleep. The first night after taking this, I was able to sleep.. 9 hours!! I also have truly horrid knees, bone on bone arthritis, Pain in my hip, back and shoulders, and recently fell and tweaked my right shoulder even further. because of this oil, I have minimal pain! I’m diabetic, and my blood sugars have been amazing! Even hubby is a believer! He was getting a cold sore, put some of this on it for a couple of days, and not only did the cold sore NOT even erupt, but actually went away! I even give a drop a day to my dogs! My 10 year old Chihuahua was starting to have some issues with arthritis on cold days. I now see her playing and running around with the other dogs ! I am DEFINITELY a believer!!

Diabetes:

My husband has lowered his A1C that monitors his diabetes, he has improved kidney function went from 1.3 liters of urine output to 3.5 liters, dropped triglycerides from 268 to 206, dropped cholesterol to 204, dropped BP to normal, and has improved vision from being blind with diabetic retinopathy and Glaucoma! Also he did a blood and urine test, while consuming 40mg of cbd a day, and tested negative for all drugs for his transplant

Diabetes:

Wowza. I’m off of four medications within three weeks. Blood sugars have never been normal consistently since I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2004. Today I used the oil like usual with my Med’s and blood sugars have remained normal in the 90 range all day and I ate bread. I continue to be thankful I have found these products

Skin conditions:

I am so happy with my CBD oil. My issues are not as severe as some of you but I felt the need to share anyway. I’m in my early 40’s and suffer from rosacea with cystic acne and also poor sleep quality. My skin issue’s are an on again off again thing, but sometimes I experience a bad bout. Two weeks ago my skin was so sore that I couldn’t even touch my face and the pain would wake me up at night. One week later my 500mg bottle of CBD oil arrived. I used it topically on my skin that evening and also sublingually. I’m still amazed that the next morning I was not longer experiencing any pain and the redness and swelling were significantly decreased. I have been given creams and antibiotics by my doctor over the past 4 years and nothing has worked. I had to stop taking the antibiotics because they wreaked havoc on my stomach. On day three of using the oil my skin had improved by at least 70%. And I’m sleeping much more soundly ?. The picture on the left was taken a few days before receiving my oil, the picture on the right was taken on day four of taking the oil both topically and sublingually, twice a day. I’m so excited.
