CBD Oil Review: Trim Healthy Naturals

I haven’t seen many Trim Healthy Naturals CBD oil reviews yet (from the Trim Healthy Mama line of products), so hopefully, this one will help if you’re on the fence about whether or not to give it a try.

Over the past year or two, I’ve tried one other CBD oil for anxiety, and I couldn’t use it consistently (more on that a little later). I like the Trim Healthy Naturals brand better for several reasons.

If you don’t want this particular CBD oil for whatever reason, there are a lot of others on Amazon to experiment with and read reviews on. I haven’t personally tried any that I see listed there, though.

Please note that I’m not a doctor. I can’t tell you if this is safe for you or make any kind of medical claims or promise that CBD will cure anything. I’m simply sharing information and my experience.

Please check with your doctor before you try any supplements, including CBD oil. And if you’re already on medication for anxiety and/or depression, please don’t try to swap them out for CBD oil without a medical professional’s guidance.

Using CBD Oil for Anxiety

I started out using CBD oil for anxiety–that’s why I became interested in it in the first place. I generally sleep well these days, so I didn’t really need it for that.

There was the additional benefit of inflammation reduction that caught my attention, too, but that wouldn’t have been enough to make me buy it. I got it for general and social anxiety, and depression.

Regardless of brand, I’ve always found that CBD oil helps with anxiety that’s still trying to get out of control even when I’m eating well, exercising, etc.

I wasn’t completely, 100% in love with the first CBD oil I had, so I decided to try the Trim Healthy Naturals one. It’s reasonably priced and had just been released, so I went for it after listening to the podcasts Pearl and Serene did about it.

The biggest reason I was ready to jump ship and leave the old brand was probably the fact that I’d bought the big bottle (after trying the smaller one) and it was next to impossible to open. Anxiety-inducing anxiety treatment. Huh. Not impressed. The Trim Healthy Naturals one is delightfully easy to open. I still use the old one sometimes and I’m going to use it up, but I’m not going back again.

Trim Healthy Naturals CBD Oil Review

I promised you a Trim Healthy Naturals hemp, or CBD, oil review in another post, so here we go! This isn’t sponsored, by the way. I’m not affiliated with Trim Healthy Mama or Trim Healthy Naturals in any way. I just wanted to share what I’ve felt and learned so far.

I’ve been using it daily for several weeks now. On some days, I took it twice a day; on other days, I only took it once. You really have to play around with it to see how it affects your body. Everyone won’t have the same experience.

The First Few Days

I didn’t know if I was going to be able to take the Trim Healthy Mamas hemp oil supplement once I was a couple of days in. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced what I did, but I got smacked with a fresh round of depression.

I knew it was probably because I’d introduced this, so I decided to hang on for 7-10 days (a number of days I plucked out of the air since I have no idea if there’s normally an “adjustment period” to stuff like this).

I’m so glad I did.

After Adjusting

Once I made it through a few days, maybe a week, of feeling more depressed than usual, I started to feel like Trim Healthy Naturals CBD oil was the missing piece to my mental health puzzle. Side effects and other things I noticed:

  • I’m laughing more. Like, for real. Not just a chuckle here and there.
  • My emotions seem more stable.
  • Things don’t get to me so much.
  • Everything seems easier, so I’m more productive. I imagine this is how anxiety-free (and depression-free) people operate normally.
  • My mind is much clearer. I can trust myself to remember and think through things well. For the longest time, I’ve depended on other people (mostly my husband) and Google for memory, no joke. It bothered me, but my mind was so foggy, I didn’t trust it.
  • I sleep better. Not so deeply that I won’t wake up if my kid needs me or something happens, but it’s probably much more restorative sleep. I had some weird dreams for a while! I was taking it closer to bedtime then, though.
  • I have more energy throughout the day. I’ve struggled with fatigue for as long as I can remember. I still get tired in the afternoons if I didn’t go to bed early enough the night before or I haven’t been eating nutritious food, but I feel good, longer, and with less effort (I don’t have to micromanage my sleep/diet as much, even though I do have to pay attention to them).
  • PMS was virtually nonexistent last time.
  • I can focus .

The Flavor

I’m not a huge fan of the flavor. I get that it’s trying to be nice and taste like berries, but it tastes a little like a diluted wine cooler mixed with an earthiness. A lot of people seem to like it, and it’s not bad. But if they introduce new flavors, I’ll try those before I buy another berry-flavored one. Either way, it’s worth it.

I will say that I’m glad they tried to make it taste good, at least. I can sort of imagine how it would be without the berry flavor and it’d be a lot less pleasant.

The Strength

There are 300 mg of CBD in each 30 ml bottle. If you take a full 1 ml dose, you get 10 mg of CBD. For reference, I don’t take more than .75 ml. I started at .50 ml.

How to Use It

Easy, peasy. Decide what time of day you want to try it and how much you want to take. Fill the dropper up to that mark, then drop the oil under your tongue. Hold it there for at least 30 seconds, then swallow.

Because this has added herbs for female hormonal balance, it may not be the best choice during pregnancy. There will be another one coming out that does not have these herbs that may or may not be safe for pregnancy (ask your doctor or midwife). That said–and again, ask your doctor to be sure–you should be safe to take it when you’re trying to conceive and while you’re breastfeeding, according to the research THM shared.

The Packaging and Shipping

Shipping was fast! I got it in just a few days. The notification that it had shipped went out within just a couple of hours.

The oil comes in a beautiful opaque black bottle with a black dropper lid. It has a black label with the turquoise Trim Healthy Mamas butterfly on it.

I’m sure the opacity is helpful for maintaining the integrity of the product, but it’s hard to see how much oil you have left. I have no idea if I need to reorder soon or not. That’s the only criticism I have of the packaging.

Benefits of CBD Oil

According to Trim Healthy Mama and my personal experience:

  • You can use CBD oil for anxiety and depression management.
  • It can help with inflammation and pain management.
  • It’s been known to help with seizures (I haven’t used it for this, personally, but I’ve heard of a lot of cases where CBD/hemp oil helped with seizures)
  • It may help cognitive function (THM mentions Alzheimers and ADHD, but my cognitive function improvements came from clearing the anxiety and depression)
  • It can help you get better, more restful sleep.

It’s Good for Pain (Muscle Pain, at Least)

I’m adding this into the review later because I just ran out of my second bottle of Trim Healthy Naturals CBD oil and haven’t ordered more yet.

Apparently, this does wonders for recovery and muscle soreness post-workout. I’ve been working out for weeks without feeling rundown and overly sore. These were the same workouts I used to have a hard time doing several days in a row. When I started them back up, no problems. I felt great. I would be sore the next day, but I felt energized more than drained.

I started running low on my CBD oil and started skimping on the doses. I’d take a little less sometimes or only take it once per day instead of twice. Then I stopped for several days (have to order more). I’ve been doing the same types of workouts but my body feels like it’s been hit by a truck.

I have more tension in my upper body, which leads to more headaches. I feel that weird dehydrated-no-matter-what-I-do feeling that happens when I overexert myself. My legs are so sore, I don’t want to get up and walk around. I’m a mess. Lol

I had no idea the CBD oil was doing that for my pain. I knew it was supposed to be good for pain in general, but this is a shocking amount of difference. I haven’t even been using BCAAs for post-workout hydration and recovery because I haven’t felt like I needed them. Now I do.

Any CBD Oil Side Effects?

During the time I was getting used to the Trim Healthy Naturals CBD oil especially, I only had one unwanted side effect, other than the depression I mentioned: I couldn’t stay asleep at night.

The sleep I got in between wake-ups felt deep and restorative, but I woke up a few times per night. I don’t really have that problem anymore, even when I take it close to bedtime. I’ve cut back to taking it once per day and I usually take that between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Worth noting: Due to some chatter in the Facebook group, I can’t say for sure that this won’t show up on a drug test. It’s not illegal to use, but if you’re subject to random drug tests at work, it might save you some hassle to skip this product for now (copaiba’s not the same and doesn’t work the same for me, but it might make a good alternative).

How Is This Hemp Oil Different?

I can’t say enough about this CBD oil for anxiety, sleep, mood, clear-headedness, energy, and how balanced I feel. The other one I tried did help with those things, but it was more of a roller coaster ride than this one.

I could only take the other one a few days in a row before I started to feel hungover, sluggish, and unproductive. My brain fog would lift until I hit that point, and then it’d be back with a vengeance.

The other brand is good, but I had to be more vigilant about keeping up with my energy levels and mood so I’d know when to start skipping days again to maintain the benefits without crossing over into negative side effect territory.

What About the Herbs?

The herbs are organic clary sage, lavender, lemongrass, and passion flower.

Note: Serene and Pearl recently (as of early February 2019) found out the supplier had been putting sage–not clary sage–in the formula. Not sure if they’ll correct it, make a separate formula, or what since it’s working so well for so many people with the sage in there. They do caution that if you’re breastfeeding and struggling with milk supply, you may want to hold off on this formula and take the plain CBD oil (coming soon) until you’re done breastfeeding.

I can’t say whether the other brand of oil helped with my PMS symptoms because I had to take it off and on and that was hard to track, but I’ve taken the Trim Healthy Naturals brand every day and did notice a marked difference in how “normal” PMS was compared to my round of PMS this time.

I didn’t get cramps before my period started. I didn’t have the crazy mood swings. The cravings were minimal. In fact, if I hadn’t had a cycle tracker on my phone, my period would’ve totally taken me by surprise. I was just humming right along in life, feeling normal. That’s probably got more to do with the herbs than the CBD oil itself, but I’m sure it contributes, too.

Is This the Best CBD Oil?

I’m tempted to say yes because I can’t imagine having a better experience. I’ve only tried two, though, so it’s not fair for me to say. Is this the best CBD/hemp oil for me right now? Yes. Absolutely. I will buy it again and have no plan to look elsewhere for CBD oil for my anxiety (or muscle pain).

I wish I didn’t have to buy this CBD oil online because it’s hard to see when you’re running low and ordering online takes a little planning, but at least the shipping is fast.

UPDATE. I found a different CBD oil I actually like more (the orange flavor tastes like candy!). It’s the Soul CBD brand. I wasn’t a fan of the watermelon-mint flavor, just FYI. Haven’t tried mint or lemon-lime. Can’t wait to try a bath bomb, even though I’m not a bath girl.

Is the Trim Healthy Mamas CBD oil still good? Absolutely, I still recommend it. I just moved on from it when I got curious about the Soul CBD one because of the flavor and found that it works a little better for me.
